Participation: Money Talks is open for all, the theme of the evening may be of particular interest for those who are excited about self-organisation and/or working collectively.

‘Money Talks’ is a form of tools sharing that plays with the format of a talk show to converse about the tricky topic of money. Depending on your preference, finances can be sexy or they can be dull, they can be a source of satisfaction or of great anxiety. Some people are spreadsheet obsessed, while others have to crawl around their rooms and seek out receipts from under the bed for every tax declaration. When finances get collective they get even more complex.

For our first ‘Money Talks’ session we are happy to host Hackers & Designers to discuss the hows of finance; administration, protocols and tools that help organise collective finances, the whys; ethics of practice around the value of work, and come together to imagine how collective finances could be different.

We meet with H&D at a changing point in how they self-organise:

“In December we got the unfortunate news that we won’t receive funding from Creative Industries Funds for our activity program in 2025-2026. Rather than rushing into another fund raising trajectory, we are in the process of reorienting and navigating what this new situation means for our organisational structure, and how to engage with changing demands and political landscapes, how to bounce back, how to organise in different ways/forms/shapes that align with our values”.

Following the talk show set up, we welcome a q&a moment with the audience, so you are welcome to bring your questions along for our finance focused evening together.

Hackers & Designers (H&D) is a conglomerate of practitioners from different fields and backgrounds (technology, design, art, and education) currently operating between Amsterdam, Rotterdam and Brussels. H&D is organised in a cooperative fashion, distributing responsibility over finances and decision making.
