Can we enjoy the singing of printers? Can bodies bear being operated as machines? This Extratonal Special: Bodies write machines write bodies will be a sonic dive into these questions. For this occasion, we have invited two very special acts:

The Writing Machines Ensemble is an international experimental group of humans and machines that explore and research radical new forms of musicality. The ensemble focuses on exploring potential musicality through the sonic qualities of printers that are expressed through the use of printed language, musical notation and drawings. Their core principles concern re-purposing printing oriented technology by expanding their limits over their original purpose. Furthermore blending the role of ‘instrument’ and ‘musician’ in an assemblage of artistic creation, with a strong emphasis on improvisation. In this edition The Writing Machines Ensemble is Emanuelle Arrigoni, Claudio Castro Chaponan and Robin de Haan.

Stories from the Bodies invites you to an evening where music & poetry, words & sounds in their various shapes, shades, melodies, distortions & languages, emotions, urgencies and expressions intertwine and resonate opening up into one space, bringing you along into this ever-transforming breathing world of vulnerability, connection, resilience & shared hopes, stories and dreams. The act Stories from the Bodies will bring together six Rotterdam-based poets and musicians, connecting their creative paths, letting poetry & music embody each other through the moment shared with the bodies present.
